WED
Wednesday Nights Fellowship Meal
5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Every Wednesday night we host AWANA we have a fellowship meal for the kids, workers, and church congregation. After the meal you're invited to join Pastor Kevin in the sanctuary, or lend a hand helping out with our AWANA kids club!
Wednesday Nights AWANA Kid's Club
6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed: that's what AWANA stands for, and that's what we stand for as a church at PBC. We love kids and take the Lord's instructions very serious, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." - Prov 22:6
Wednesday Nights Pastor's Friends
6:30 PM to 7:45 PM
Come join Pastor Kevin as he teaches us from God's word every Wednesday night. Our evening begins with prayer for our church family, community, nation, and world; then we dive into God's word - typically covering the sermon from the past Sunday.

Hi, and welcome to Poetry!

Are you and your family looking for a church home that's less interested in elaborate productions and more interested in genuine relationships built on the truth and love of Christ's Gospel?

Poetry Baptist Church was established in 1855 and is the oldest Baptist Church in Kaufman County. PBC has persevered because the focus has always been, and will always be, on Christ and His mission to be a blessing to all the families on earth.

We still sing hymns (some of the really good newer songs too!). We still spend way too much time greeting and welcoming one another at the start of our service each week. We still believe that membership is about personal investment in the ministry of the church. We still don't pass a plate to guilt you into financial contributions. We still keep our staff budget to a ridiculous minimum (currently 0 full-time and 3 part-time staff) because, as the Church, we take seriously our congregation's part in ministries and maintenance. We still believe in congregational government and not decisions made by a select few for the rest of us. We still believe church is about hospitality and not an "insiders" or "country club" mentality. We still believe in looking ahead and actively preparing for Christ's return - not looking back with nostalgic hearts and resting on what others did in the past. We still believe (because of what Christ did at the Cross) it's not about us and our convenience, but rather about humility and serving the Eternal King of Heaven.

If that sounds like a place where you and your family would like to grow in the faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ, then consider this a personal invitation to come join us!
