The Truth
February 5, 2021, 11:00 AM

Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.
1 John 2:4

We hear it all the time. We see it on signs in yards, in front of schools and churches, "Pray for Our Country," or "Pray for our leaders!" What exactly are we supposed to be praying for?

Rather than praying the same old pathetic and impotent prayers for our country, our leaders, for revival in our churches, or a whole laundry list of other intangible prayers with indeterminate and subjective outcomes... What if we prayed Scripture? What if we prayed as the psalmist did, “Teach me Your way, Lord, and I will live by Your Truth! Give me an undivided will to fear Your Name!” - Psalm 86:11

Then, after being taught Truth, what if we took Jesus, The Eternal Word of Truth, at His word and lived it with an undivided will?

Here's what King Jesus teaches:

• Call out for insight...
•Love one another...
•Be perfect...
•Love your enemies...
•Disciple all nations...
•Enter through the Narrow Gate...
•Deny self...
•Follow me...
•Be born-again...
•Worship in Spirit and Truth...
•Forgive one another...
•Stop sinning...
•Bear fruit...
•Love the Lord your God...
•Seek first the kingdom...
•Be on guard...
•Stand firm...
•Be strong and courageous...
•Repent...
•Do not forsake meeting together...
•Consider others superior...
•Remember the love you had at first...
•Do not worry...
•Bring the whole tithe...
•Wash one another’s feet...
•You will be my witnesses...
•Do the work of the Father...
•Do this in remembrance of Me...
•Put on the Belt of Truth...

What if we prayed, in all honesty and sincerity for God's tangible and objective vision and mission to be accomplished - not out there somewhere, but in MY LIFE today: “Thy kingdom come! Thy will be done!”

Would we even recognize it?

Would we, those who claim to be born-again believers, walkers by faith not sight, disciples, followers, fishers of men, people of The Way, heralds of Truth, salt & light, Christians, temples of the Holy Spirit... would we even recognize Him? Or like the religious zealots of 2,000 years ago, would we blindly reject and despise the Truth? Would we, like them, demand, “Crucify Him!”

The Ten Commandments in public squares, stickers on our vehicles, crosses, flags, signs, and banners in our yards... all externals. All transient. All subject to the shifting sands of cultural fancy, popular consensus, moths, rust, and decay.

But the Truth: Jesus. Christ. Descended from David. Resurrected from the dead. Coming soon for those eagerly waiting for Him... The Truth is unchanged, unrelenting, and unavoidable. The Word is forever firmly established in the heavens.

One day soon every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, “King Jesus is Lord!” to the glory of the Father.

Scripture doesn’t tell us everyone will vote on it. Thankfully, reality is an Eternal Trinitarian Theocracy--not a democracy. The Bible doesn’t state everyone will like it. But everyone, even Satan and the demons, will accept the Truth, The Word, King Jesus, as the exclusive and eternal reality.

Some, accepting by grace through faith unto eternal glory as members of His Bride and Body. The rest, rejecting Him, thus condemned by their choice to eternal torment and destruction.

Truth is that which corresponds with reality. Are we... are YOU living as though King Jesus were on the throne of your entire life - right now?

Are you merely saying, “I know Him!” or "I've asked Him into my heart!" or "I prayed the magical prayer of salvation!" Or are you truly a living testimony, a literal martyr of His orders? His grace? His faithfulness? Is the Truth, Christ Jesus in you, or, as Scripture states, are you a liar?

The Good News? The Truth is not hate speech. The Truth, The Word, is unadulterated and unrelenting grace and love. Our King, Jesus went to Cross of Calvary willingly as The Way so He could know YOU, and you could know Him as The Truth.

The question is, will you?

Blessings,
