Kevin M. Kelley

(214)735-1551

Kevin grew up in San Antonio, graduating from John Marshall High School in '86 and UTSA in '93 with a B.Sc. in Kinesiology. His passion for physical fitness took him from corporate fitness at SwRI to Kelly AFB as an Exercise Physiologist, and eventually opening up a private fitness studio in '00.

But those worldly pursuits did nothing to bring satisfaction or fulfillment into Kevin's life. In the Fall of '02 he was invited by a friend to attend Community Bible Church in S.A. That's where Kevin heard the Gospel of Christ preached for the first time. God continued that relentless pursuit, and in May of '03 Kevin called out to God, "Lord, if you're there please help me to know You!" God answered Kevin's prayer with the transcendent gift of faith (Eph 2:8-9)! Kevin's response was, "Lord, I'll go wherever you want me to go and do whatever you want me to do!"

The Lord led Kevin to First Baptist Church of San Antonio, where he began leading and teaching Sunday School for the Young Professionals ministry. Kevin then became a pastoral intern under, then, Senior Pastor, T. Don Guthrie. Kevin later accepted the call at FBCSA as the interim Single Adults Pastor before moving to Dallas to attend seminary in the summer of '06.

While teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Dallas, Kevin met Christine in the Fall of '10. Kevin proposed in February of '11 and they were married on May 28, 2011. Kevin completed his M.Div. in the Spring of '15. Pastor Kevin and Christine have four children: Delanie, Allie, Connor, and Hannah Grace.

The Kelley's greatest joy is just being together as a family and being part of a loving, compassionate, and united church family. Pastor Kevin notes, "I have no doubt the Lord has brought us to Poetry Baptist Church. The warm fellowship and extravagant hospitality at Poetry is what made it feel like home from day one. This church family has been, and continues to be, the answer to countless prayers for our family. I look forward to loving and serving the church family and community of Poetry in the weeks, months, and years to come!"
